Winter is coming, and this will be the first Winter that you go through with your Koi pond. Think of Winter as a down period for your pond, as less events happen during Winter then any other time. However, there are special precautions that you need to take before Winter arrives, to ensure that your pond and fish survive.

Spend some time, like somewhere around two days to clean up your pond. Try to clean to undesirable macros from your Koi pond. Inside your pond, clean up all leaves, slit, and other material from the bottom. Make sure to also get rids of plants that won’t be able to survive the winter time. Around the pond, clean up anything that can blow into your pond, as you are not likely to notice this debris until the end of winter. Taking the time to make sure that as much debris is removed as possible will prevent potentially harmful bacteria and parasites in the future.

You are also required to stop feeding your Koi during winter. You need to feed your Koi only one time a day when fall comes. Once the temperatures drop below 50 degree for the first time, stop feeding entirely. You also require not to feed your Koi even when the temperature goes above 50 degrees. The majority of Koi, when healthy and the temperature is above 50 degrees, require at the least four days to completely digest food. If you mistakenly feed your fish to late the food will not digest and will end up killing your fish. Also, do not think that when you Koi open their mouth to you, that they are hungry. Because this is just a learned reflex, not hunger. When really feel that you need to feed them, always think that there also natural food in the pond itself without you even need to feed your Koi. If they are at all hungry and you are not feeding them, they will fill up on this.

Check Up- Do you seasonal check up on all your equipment. This includes everything from your filtration system to your store of preventable medications. This is because most Koi ponds are dormant during this winter season,it is hard for you to find your supply during this time of the year.

Prepare For Cold Weather- Prepare for cold weather by investing in the items you will need during the summer. It is also known that Koi. You also need to make sure that your heater is big enough to heat your pond when you are buying one, because if it is not able to heat the whole pond, ice will form which can caused trouble by the gas trapped in the ice. It’s also a good idea if you can have an emergency tank if there is any problem.

Also, turn off your water sources as at this period of time, your heater will work hard to heat your pond Be sure to also turn off water features like waterfall and streams. These features will circulate water, and constantly bring new, and cold water into your pond. So, your heater only need to heat the water in the pond without having to do extra work to heat up the circulation of cold water.his will be the first Winter that you are keeping your Koi pond. Think of Winter as a down time for your pond, as other than other season, there is minimum activity during winter. Yet, there are some precautions that you need to do before Winter arrives, to determine that your koi pond and koi fish survive.Spend some time, like somewhere around two days to clean up your pond.

Treeing Walker Coonhounds directly descended from the English Foxhounds that Thomas Walker of Virginia imported from England in the year 1974. But the breed was not recognized independently until the mid 1940s. It is an offspring of the Walker Hound and a dog that is of unknown origin called the Tennessee Lead.

The importation of foxhounds to Virginia was Thomas Walkers attempt to introduce the New World to the English foxhunting tradition. But the tradition did not become a popular practice until a couple of years later. Treeing Walker Coonhounds are natural born hunters.

Coonhounds are born hunters. When trained well, they will learn to howl in a distinctive manner that will tell its human hunting companion that their prey has been cornered and that the chase is almost over. Because hunting is natural to them, they can be really good at it but they cannot be the best urban or suburban companions.

Coonhounds are naturally affectionate and are completely efficient aside from being unstoppable and untiring. They are natural athletes and are a lover of warm climates and they love to run around and swim. Agility is one of their most remarkable traits so you would rarely see them lying around to sunbathe or take naps.

Walker hounds can be mistaken for oversized beagles. Treeing Walker Coonhounds usually stand at about 20-28 inches in width and weighs 50-70 pounds. They have lean, straight legs but their shoulders are characteristically powerful.

Coonhounds prefer the outdoors and physical activities so they cannot live well in apartments. If owners are living in apartments, they have to see to it that they can take their dogs on regular walks and have them play and run around in open spaces regularly. Treeing Walker Coonhounds become uneasy without physical and mental exercise.

Training Walker Coonhounds are good companions aside from being excellent working and hunting dogs. Although they are fast learners and can catch tricks and routines through examples, they can ignore their trainers to follow their noses at times. As scent hounds, they have an excellent sense of smell and they have distinctive howls so they can be easily identified by their owners.

Treeing Walker Coonhounds live for 12 to 13 years. They hardly develop major health issues and needs very minimal grooming. Walker Coonhounds need occasional bathing and their ears should also be cleaned and checked for infection regularly.

Making sure your Koi pond is in the absolute cleanest condition possible should be at the very top of your list of priorities. The reason for this is rather simple as not only does a clean pond help keep your fish healthy, but it also saves a considerable amount of time and effort, not to mention money, since it’s much easier to prevent problems from happening than it is to correct them once they’ve occurred.

Your Pond’s Water and Filtration System

The filtration system of your pond is one of it’s most important aspects, so make sure it’s able to accommodate the number of gallons of water as well as being able to handle the size and number of Koi. The two types of filtration systems, biological or mechanical, serve two different purposes. The biological system utilizes nitrogen, helping to dissolve waste in the pond and keeping it from turning into ammonia, which is toxic to Koi, and the mechanical filtration system is what removes solid waste such as insects or dead algae.

The importance of keeping your Koi pond clean simply cannot be stressed enough. Having clean water can often mean the difference between happy, healthy Koi and a pond full of suffering, dying fish. Keep in mind that the pond water is your Koi’s entire home, where they eat, socialize, sleep, and explore, but remember that it also serves as their bathroom as well. Not cleaning the pond on a regular basis is almost like making your fish live in their toilet.

The easiest way to tell if the water in your Koi pond is clean enough is simply by looking at it. If the water seems almost totally clear without a lot of floating debris preventing the fish from swimming about freely there’s a good chance your pond is the ideal environment for Koi. If, however, you aren’t able to see the bottom of the pond, then it’s time to begin the cleaning process.

Keep Supplies On Hand

Having all of the supplies you’ll need handy will help to prevent mishaps from happening and allow you to better take care of basic maintenance as well as any potential problems. And, because your pond is outdoors, you never know when mother nature will intervene, so you definitely won’t want to be left unprepared to care for your fish.

Do Not Overfeed

Overfeeding can ultimately cause water quality issues.. In nature, Koi would not nearly the amount of food that they do in controlled ponds. It is not unheard of for pond owners to feed many pounds of food to their Koi per week. This produces a larger amount of waste, whether it comes from the digestion process on the Koi’s part, or the amount of uneaten food that has settled to the bottom and spoiled. It is important to vacuum the bottom out as much as possible, and make sure all types of drainage systems are clear and in working order.

It is important to remember that when you quarantine your new Koi, they should remain under total isolation. This means that you should not allow anything to come into contact with the quarantined Koi, especially items that also come into contact with your current population. Separate tools, food, and water should be used, and never under any circumstances, should the tools used for your quarantined fish leave the area in which they are used. Another important thing to remember is proper hand washing procedures when handling both Koi and Koi items within the same time period.

Quarantining will not guarantee that you will not expose your fish to viruses, but it will greatly reduce the chance that you are.

You can set things up in a controlled way so you can use sound for training purposes. This lets you get the exact result you want.

The 4 steps we are going to describe should be carried out in different places. We are going to try to get inside our dog’s mind to understand him better in order to start our work.

Dogs do think and do communicate, but not like us.So we have to make the effort to understand them better to have more success.

You have to be consistent so as not to confuse. Using conditioned reflex, you will be able to effectively change any behaviour you choose.

We will be using a set of cans in our demonstration. These allow us to change the direction of the sound quite simple by moving the string. This is all we need to change a behavior. We are going to create sound and follow it immediately with praise. What you do is let the unwanted behavior begin nad create a sound from a different direction, and then praise him.

What you do is create the sound every time bad behavior starts and follow that with praise. You will have to so this several times in order to change his conditioning. It takes persistence.

Of course, you may continue correcting your dog forever, as most trainers do. We do not understand why a trained dog needs correction. Seems that if he were trained, that would be the end of it. That would imply that if a trained dog makes a mistake, that this mistake is probably not an accident, but rather, a challenge to your authority.

You will soon come to enjoy this process because it really works well and you can take satisfaction from knowing how to change behavior. Do bear in mind that this is changing existing behavior, not teaching new behavior.

You don’t have to choose between having a lawn and having a pet. This article will help you know how to recognize and deal with pet spots in your lawn. Three of the main problems caused by pets include lawn compaction, pH imbalances, and over fertilization. This article deals with these three main issues and how to fix them.

If you own a Great Dane and have a very small lawn, don’t be surprised. if you develop a problem with lawn compaction. The weight of the dog, along with the constant running compacts the lawn and is often too much for the grass roots to handle. The easiest way to repair the lawn is to do mechanical or chemical aeration. At times it may also be necessary to add soil additives to the soil such as lime or gypsum which over time will also soften the soil.

Pet urination (over fertilization) is a common problem with dogs. It is what causes yellow spots in your lawn. Usually the grass nearest the front and back doors are the areas with the most evident problems. Dog urine burns the lawn because it has urea in it. Urea is a powerful nitrogen fertilizer. Its N-P-K value is 46-0-0 with means it is super high in nitrogen. Urea is a wonderful fertilizer. However, to much of it can burn the lawn. There are several ways to solve this problem. Some include: giving your pet an additive (vitamin) in their diet to neutralize the effects of the urine, pouring water over the areas where your dog peas, and training your dog to urinate on other areas off of the lawn. The last option seems to be the preferred method but every pet is a little different so use the one that works best for you.

The next problem you may be facing with your lawn is if your dog is a female and her ovulation cycles are damaging your lawn. These is a lot more lethal than urea because it can be extremely acidic. You can fix this problem either by giving your pet and additive in their food or by getting your pet fixed.

Once your lawn has been damaged by either urea or pH imbalances, the next step is to repair the spots in the lawn that are damaged. To do this, first scrape off affected area down to the soil. Next, replace with either sod or seed. For seed lawn use a light topdressing and starter fertilizer. Be sure to water regular. Grass should take 3-6 weeks to get established.

Pigs are great animals to raise and are very profitable for farmers. They are cheap to raise and provide a lot of food when they are fully grown. However, pigs are very prone to getting sick. They wallow around in their own filth and, being social creatures, are often near other pigs so disease can spread very quickly. Therefore, it is very important to take proper care of your pigs to protect them from illness.

Proper pig care starts with their diet. Giving pigs the right food will make sure that their immune systems are strong and can fight off disease. In order to make pigs healthy you need to have a balanced diet. Make sure you feed them a good corn and grain diet. Add lots of protein to the mix so that it rounds out their nutrients. Moreover, you need to add nuts to their diet. Doing all of this will keep them healthy.

Pigs also have brighter chances to sustain a healthy lifestyle if you and your animal are in close association of a veterinarian. A veterinarian can do an informative job of guiding you to adapt the bio-security features to the kind of production system that you have at home and also the knowledge of the various diseases in your area. If your pig does get sick, your veterinarian is at close call and can immediately diagnose and treat the disease. Before you decide on your pigs entry in an exhibition or show, it is suggestive to consult your veterinarian in order to map out a vaccination protocol and bio-security specific program as pigs are commingled and more susceptible to transmitting diseases at such swine exhibitions.

Make sure you follow sanitation techniques so that the area you slaughter the pigs in is clean. This is one way to protect against disease. Make sure the area is cleaned frequently after each pig with proper sanitation techniques. Make sure you keep the area covered with stainless steal so that everything is cleaned easily. Moreover, make sure your pigs are kept away from the area pigs are slaughtered.

Preventative measures undertaken to control such pests is cleaning up of any food spills, getting rid of ay debris and disposing off any dead pigs as well. Vehicles too bear the potential of carrying infection onto your farm. Areas that have access to your pig herd must be controlled by designating a specific area to an off farm traffic which is not closely associated with your pigs.

With Swine Flu a pandemic around the world, people are looking at pigs skeptically now. Farmers everywhere are watching pork sales decrease and government inspections increase. Though it is always important to protect your pigs against sickness, now is even more important a time to do so. Make sure you take good care of your pigs, feed them well, and always inspect them for disease. Prevention is the most important measure.

Nowadays, an increasing number of people are becoming interested in building chicken coops, and with new plans and designs for DIY coops becoming available in the market, you can choose specific features and create a coop that is custom made for your own personal requirements. For starters, however, it is always a better idea to make a smaller chicken coop first and then upgrade to a larger one with more chickens after they have gained some experience. Here are a few reasons why building a small chicken coop is better than a large one.

Lower Building Material Costs

Everyone wants to get the most out of the smallest amount of investment. The basic reason why you must opt for a small coop over a large one is the lower cost of material needed to construct the coop. Furthermore, maintenance will also cost much less for a small coop and you will soon realize that smaller coops will save you quite a lot of money initially. Also, a smaller coop will be ready in lesser time and it will also need less effort, so you may want to consider keeping a small coop instead of a large one.

Maintenance

Maintenance is also much easier for a small chicken coop. You will be able to clean the coop regularly and quickly with ease, and this is definitely a better option for you if you want to keep the chicken coop as a side project and not a full-time one. If the coop is small, it will take less time to clean, and you will have more time to spend on other activities or work.

Portability

Lastly, smaller chicken coops have an advantage over large ones in terms of mobility. If you move a lot, it will be a much lesser hassle to have a small coop. Another advantage of a small coop is that you can move it around in your backyard so that the grass doesn’t become dry. The chickens will also enjoy searching for weeds and bugs and other insects in the ground. Also, you can move the coop to place it in sunlight or even in the shade of a tree, giving you endless options for placement.

An increasing number of individuals are choosing small coops over large ones so consider your requirements and find out the most suitable option for your needs. Remember, the security and comfort of your chickens is of utmost importance, and whatever design you choose must fulfill their needs for comfort as much as yours.
