Being either a cat owner or a dog owner you will most likely know these 7 tips. But study shows that you are probably not aware of the importance of each them so in order for your pet to have the best possible health condition I am here to remind you.
* Amount of exercise: Both cats and dogs need physical activity. Movement is vital to any pet and the larger pet the more exercise is needed. That is why dogs will often require more exercise than cats.
* Way to exercise: If your cat is a stay at home cat you will need to take it out into nature. If you live in a big city you must take it for daily walks. All dogs (even the smaller ones) will need at least one daily walk and for larger breeds you need two or three walks a day of at least 30 minutes.
* Nutrition amount: I know you want to do what best for your pet and spoiling them by giving them all they can eat will not benefit them at all. They will get fat and the excess fat will harm their health condition.
* Healthy ingredients: Be sure to feed your pet with high quality food. You will find that you’ll have to pay a little extra for the food but your pet’s health condition will be improved drastically if you do.
* Affection: Show your pets that you truly and deeply love them. Hug them and tell them that you love them. You might think that they do not understand what you’re saying but I promise you that they can sense what you feel.
* Insure your pet: Every day thousands of pets get hurt by cars and there is nothing we can do about it. But instead of hoping that it’ll never happen to your pet be sure to get an good pet health insurance that will cover everything if bad luck strikes.
* Plan: Make sure you use a schedule for all major appointments. Be sure to note the regular VET check-ups and that your pet gets any medication or vaccines that it’ll need. Small things like these will add up in the long run.

To start we will discuss the negatives of using homemade kitten food and then go to positives of using homemade kitten food.
Making your own homemade kitten food will take you more time then simply opening a bag or can of kitten food. There is nothing simpler then pouring premade food into your kittens bowl. Making your own food will require you to spend time making it every few days.
On the flip side, the more you make your kittens food the less time it will take you and it has been shown that cats can live a much longer time when feed a diet that closely resembles what they would eat out in the wild.
The cost of making your own kitten food will be more expensive in the beginning. A felines diet consists of vegetable and raw meat.
Over time you will actually save money by feeding your cat homemade kitten food. When your cat gets the nutrition his body needs he has a stronger immune system so he will get sick much less often. That means less money on vet bills. You will still have to get your kitten his shots but you will be taking a sick cat to the vet a whole lot less. Also, when your kitten gets the nutrition he needs he will eat less everyday.
You also need to make sure you do your homework. Cats have allergies to some of our food and some of are food is even poison to them.
Garlic, onions, and tomatoes are poison. Cats should not eat any thing that is in the same food group as onions and garlic. Kittens are also lactose intolerant and where as it won’t kill them it will make them sick and that would defeat the purpose of feeding your cat homemade food.
Just like everything you do, when you know the rules and follow them, you won’t have to think about them. It will become second nature.
Feeding your kitten homemade kitten food will help your kitten to live a longer, healthier lifetime. Give your kitten homemade kitten food.

Growing up minus the company of a well-loved pooch because of overbearing parents is not something worth looking back on. Even if they do have valid concerns such as filthy and flea-infested playmates, it is still a pathetic reason. Other kids were able to have their experience of a lifetime with their favorite dogs and that is something extraordinary. So, if you want your kids to lead a much happier life compared to yours, get a pet dog to be their reliable friend and companion as they grow old.
You have to mull over a lot of things when deciding to buy a pet from the veterinarian. You must take into consideration the other occupants in your house, the size of your living abode as well as the garden, the dog’s breed and the maintenance price that you might possibly shoulder.
This article will explain the reasons for each consideration. Read on so that you will be guided accordingly in your search for the ultimate dog.
If you are living alone, then you are the sole decision-maker in this situation. However, if you have a wife and kids, they should also be allowed to put in their two cents’ worth so that you can truly weigh the pros and cons in an objective manner. Making a crucial choice should be a collaborative process.
Second, take note if you live in a cramped condominium unit, a modest apartment, or a palatial abode in the suburb. This will be important so that you will have an idea whether you should get a toy dog, a guard dog or a sport dog. Breeds under the toy dog classification are content with small spaces. Bigger dogs need bigger spaces. They should also be placed outside the house because confining them in a small spot will lead to mayhem. They should be free to run around in the yard and exercise their long limbs and torso. Surely, you don’t want to come home everyday to a living room that resembles a hurricane-stricken town, right?
Third, the breed should be another important detail that requires a thorough planning. The needs of each breed vary. Therefore, try to match one that has a temperament close to yours. Cute dogs like a Japanese Spitz, a poodle, a Yorkshire terrier and a pug are very playful. They need someone with an enthusiastic attitude so that they will have a great time fooling around. On the other hand, a German shepherd, Pit-bull and Rottweiler need to have a strong and commanding owner because they grow up to be big dogs with fierce attitude. In order to control them, they should be trained early on to spot the enemy from friends. If you can’t even learn how to take control even if they are still in their early years, your dog will sense it and will not respect or obey you.
Fourth, if you are low on budget, get a dog that doesn’t require much maintenance. If you can avoid hairy animals that need weekly grooming, do so. Also stay away from dogs that need thermally-regulated surroundings like Siberian huskies because they will jack up your electricity bills with their air conditioning needs. Stick to wash and wear dogs so that all you have to worry about is their food, regular shampoo and conditioning needs and the bill from the vet in times of sickness.
Exercise prudence and patience in selecting the dog of your choice. More often than not, you will be together for a lifetime so it is imperative that you get the best one.
Did you know that missing information on insurance and pet health is a key problems for many pet illnesses? The second biggest problem is that pet owners think that discount pet medication is just as good as normal high quality solutions. They are wrong.
Dog food you find in stores isn’t always the best for your four legged friend. Cheap dog food has been known to be more filler than substance, and can lead to problems down the road in the health of your canine. Knowing what your dog should be eating will help you make smart decisions.
Meat is full of good protein. The problem is that the protein in cheap dog foods comes from sources that aren’t so healthy for dogs. Good protein comes from rich red meat and chicken products that are prepared in a wholesome manner. Dogs can notice the difference in taste, but more importantly the high level of good protein will keep immune system levels and a dog’s ability to heal at a good level.
Fish isn’t something that dogs eat a lot of; it’s something that is more associated with cats. Fish has the essential fatty amino acids that is important for show dogs that need a fine coat and healthy exterior. It also stimulates the healing process. Herring and trout are common sources of fish in dog food products.
A dog that is looking tired may not be getting its fair share of grain products. Grains have carbohydrates in them, which are great for long term energy. This can come from corn or wheat, but more expensive dog foods use wheat since it is easily digested and has extreme health benefits. Corn is reserved for cheaper brands that are still edible, but perhaps not as healthy or tasty for the pet.
Those who are keen on feeding pets know that rice is excellent when a dog has a digestion problem. Rice that is present in dog food acts the same way- enabling the dog to get through digestion problems and keep the digestion tract healthy for the future. If your dog seems to have serious problems on a long term basis, it is probably safer to be proactive and get the pet to a veterinarian for a routine health check up.
If you are given the choice of eating a fresh fruit or one that has been canned in manufactured circumstances, odds are you will go for fresh fruit. The idea is the same for pets, although not just for taste. Organic foods that are put into dog food are much more healthy than the synthetic ingredients that are put into dog food. Factory made food isn’t always bad, but the majority of dog food is sold so cheap for a reason.
Final Thoughts
When you first get your pet, it isn’t uncommon to go through several different types of dog food brands. You should find something that your dog likes, your budget can afford, and one that has all of the previously mentioned ingredients. Don’t take shortcuts, or your dog’s health may suffer.

I first heard about people raising chickens in their own gardens back in 2004, when a friend of mine started doing it because he liked organic food and knowing that the eggs he ate came from animals that were treated and raised in a humane manner. He decided the only way to know for sure about that was if he raised the chickens himself. He did a lot of research on the different aspects of chicken coop design, and then he built two pretty decent-sized coops in his back garden, since it’s pretty large. A few weeks after that we went over and my wife heard about it, and then nothing would do but that we raised some chickens of our own.
I was okay with it, I guess. We have a pretty big garden ourselves, but I couldn’t see needing that many eggs so I managed to talk the missus into only one coop. Fine, she said, and then she left me to get started on the chicken coop design, going off with a big book under her arm called how to care for chickens. Well, I wasn’t about to do all that research myself what with my friend already having done it, so I gave him a call and asked him to come over.
He did, and ran over the basics with me in the little shed I use as my workshop. First, he said, chickens need enough space to be comfortable, or they won’t lay as many eggs as they should. I asked him how much space was enough, and he gave me these guidelines:
* Inside the coop ” at least 4 square feet per bird
* Outside the coop in a run - at least 10 square feet per bird
* On roosts ” 3 horizontal feet per bird.
Other than that, he said, I also needed to make sure there was enough ventilation in the chicken coop design to keep the chickens healthy. They naturally like temperatures that are neither extremely hot or cold, so adding windows into the top of the coop would allow air to circulate and keep the temperature in a range the poultry would like. With that in mind, I put in one that I could control how much it opens, since sometimes it gets cold here and a wide open one would let in drafts that the chickens would find just as uncomfortable.
He also told me about how chickens like to roost off the ground. Apparently this is because in the wild they sleep on tree branches to avoid predators, so that adding roosts into a chicken coop design that lets them do something similar will make them feel safer. I ended up choosing, at his recommendation, 2 x 2 boards with the sides rounded a bit to make it easier for my birds to grip them.
The last thing to consider was protection from some of the chickens’ natural predators. Since there are so many, of so many different kinds”such as birds of prey, wild cats, and wolves or foxes”you need to consider all angles of attack when making your chicken coop design predator-proof. Make sure the walls of the coop are solid enough, and that any chicken wire you use has a small enough mesh to prevent them getting into the run.

People that do not use crates for training, often ask why you should be crate training puppies.
A puppy loves to feel secure, and he will certainly get security from having his own space. Any animal hates to soil his own area, so he will be very unlikely to mess or wet his crate - so long as you don’t leave him in it for longer than his bladder can hold on.
A puppy will think of his crate as his little home, and they will never intentionally mess in it. So long as you do not leave him in his crate too long he will hang on until you let him out into your chosen toilet area. You should never leave a young pup for more than an hour or so, otherwise he is likely to wet or mess it.
So to get your puppy used to a crate you need to put in a treat and let him walk in and investigate it. Do this a few times, and then when he seems quite happy walking in and out, and he is concentrating on his treat, you need to close the door. This is just for a few seconds the first time, then open it again.
When he is totally relaxed with this you need to move onto the next stage which is closing the door for a few seconds. So when his attention is on the treat, close the door whilst praising him quietly. No more than 20 seconds though. Let him out and give him a pat, no praise, just a little pat. Repeat this often and gradually increase the length of time the crate is closed. Don’t do it for so long that he gets upset though.
Now you have started to close the door, you need to increase the time it is closed. The next step is to actually leave the room when he is in the crate, but again only do this for a minute or so the first time. You will be able to build up this time slowly over a few days.
Do this for several days and then you can begin to go out of the room for a few minutes. It will not take him long to get used to being in his crate. You can increase the length of time you are away from him, but make sure when you go back to him, and open the door you should not make any fuss of him, just a small pat. Don’t ever let him out when he is crying, or he will think that this is what he has to do to be let out of his crate.
Over a period of three days or so you will be able to leave for an hour quite happily. As your dog gets a bit older you could leave him for slightly longer than this.
Your puppy will love his crate and feel totally safe and secure in it. An added advantage of having a crate trained puppy is that is you do need to go out you can be sure that he will be relaxed and happy in his crate, so long as he has a blanket or bed and a few toys to amuse him. Often when a puppy is left alone he will become anxious and this is when he is likely to start chewing, barking and making a nuisance of himself. So if you don’t want to come home to a destroyed house (it’s surprising how much damage a small puppy can do when he is stressed), then all of your crate training will be a real asset, as he just will not feel anxious or stressed because he knows you will be coming back to him, as you always do.

Fifty-eight million dogs and sixty-two million cats are thought to exist in North America and most unfortunately, every year thousands of them will drown needlessly. Due to the fact that many people do not report these drownings, there is no way to know exactly how many pets actually die this way. Since 99% of all dogs are able to swim, we typically are not concerned when our dogs are playing at the water’s edge at the lake or around our swimming pool. Dogs, and even some cats, grow tired after swimming short distances in water. When they are not able to find purchase anywhere with their paws, a debilitating panic sets in quickly, and this is what will cause them to drown. Our beloved pets are not the only victims of drowning, devoted pet owners will risk their own lives to go after their animals after they have fallen into a frozen lake or a swiftly flowing river.
How can we prevent our pet from suffering this horrible fate? Here are a few valuable tips:
1. Do not make the assumption that your dog is able to swim.
2. Keep a closer eye on a pet that is getting older. As they age, they are unable to swim as when they were younger.
3. Never toss a cat or a dog into the water. They will panic from the initial shock.
4. Obtain a canine flotation device (CFD) or a pet life jacket for your pet. Ensure that they are wearing the device whenever they are close to the water. There are many times that a pet has fallen of a dock or moving boat without anyone knowing.
5. Solar blankets and pool covers look like solid surfaces to your pet. If your animals are around the pool, it is a good idea to remove them if possible to avoid them walking onto it.
6. Fix a pet safety gate to the entrance to the pool area.
7. Check to ensure that your pet does not have an entry into your neighbor’s pool area.
8. Get a pool alarm for your pool or pond.
9. Keep your pet away from rapidly flowing water.
10. Make sure your pet stays away from frozen lakes and rivers.
There is a ton of guilt that comes from having to watch your pet drown, and a person can never fully recover from having to go through that experience. I highly recommend that you go out and inspect your property for any water hazards. Make your home and any vacation residences drown proof immediately, whether it’s in the dead of winter or during the summer months. If your pet is going to be anywhere near water, make sure they are wearing a canine floatation device or pet life jacket.

Despite the vast number of pet owners in the U.S., a huge percentage of them, believe it or not, do not have any form of pet insurance; these animals are, however, generally considered a part of the family - a family for whom every other member has insurance. We don’t hesitate to purchase health insurance for ourselves; should we be forgiven for not caring enough about our pets then?
Contrary to the belief of many, pet insurance is an important monthly expense; pet owners soon learn how costly it is when they require treatment if they haven’t taken out any pet insurance. No area is immune for price increases and vets fees are no exception.
So other than rising costs, what are the main reasons you should consider cover for your pets? Anyone who owns a domestic animal needs to be prepared for health problems occasionally; this invariably happens at the worst times, financially.
If this situation should occur, sometimes choices have to be made; the last thing you want to think about is how you will pay for your animal to have urgent treatment.
I remember a few years ago when the vet told me that it would cost in the vicinity of $2,500 dollars to save my dog; all I could think about at the time was whether he was worth the cost, that’s awful, isn’t it? Medical science cannot cure everything and pets are vulnerable too; operations on animals can go wrong sometimes.
The financial strain of keeping your pet healthy can sometimes be quite overwhelming; this is even more relevant if you are experiencing financial difficulties. If you are experiencing money worries then raising additional finances can prove embarrassing at best, and impossible at worst.
If you love your pet, it should have the best treatment you can afford; arranging a pet insurance policy saves this type of predicament from happening in the future. A pet healthcare insurance plan does not have cost the earth; for around 20 to 40 dollars per month, or less, the cost of your pet’s medical care is assured.
You can choose from a range of pet health insurance services; discounts are often available should you decide to place all household pets all on one policy to reduce the monthly cost. All pet owners should think carefully about what pet insurance provision they have made for their pet.
Find out more on the types of pet insurance choices available. You may be pleasantly surprised by the variety of reasonably priced pet insurance plans there are.
1. Shouting and being to violent with your dog and especially when it is just a puppy can have incurable consequences to its mental condition. It might end up feeling unworthy and can become unhappy for the rest of its life.
2. Do not make your dog overeat. To much food will hurt its physique and will make a major impact on its well being. As your dog gets fat from overeating it will lose its energy and joy and you’ll end up with a fat, lazy and unhappy pet.
3. Giving your dog your leftovers might seem like a fun an generous gesture but human food can actually hurt your dog. To give your dog what will serve it best you might consult with your local VET to find out what your specific breed of dog requires.
4. To take your dog walking can be a fun experience and since your will need to do it every day (or even more times if you have a larger breed dog) you might as well enjoy it. And you probably already know that your dog is not the only one that needs exercise, right?
5. Playing with your dog is not only important to the physique of the dog but it is also an important learning and training tool that will make your dog behave better and your dog and owner relationship will also improve.
6. Dog training classes are available all over the nation and compared to the benefits of being able to command and control your dog the price is almost ridicules. It is not only about learning how to sit and how to fetch but also how to show your dog that you’re in command.
7. You must be sure to show your dog that you care for it and that it can feel secure and loved around your. Not only will it remain happier but it will also return your love ten-fold as you are its master and leader.
8. Be fair at all times and be sure to also be respectful. Your dog is a living animal and even though it might not be able to communicate what it senses in a way that you can understand don’t conclude that it doesn’t sense things.
Dog vitality and well being is very important in order to have a happy and peaceful pet. As a dog owner you should spend enough time and energy in teaching your dog and yourself the optimal ways to love and respect each other as you will probably be together for a long time.
